Bringing boxing home: Vista youth boxing organization loses its location, but finds a home

From the outside, Rudy Moreno's home in Vista looks like any other on his street.

But as you approach his back yard, you hear a pounding sound. It's the sound of gloves striking punching bags, and it gets louder as you finally see the large tent that now takes up most of the yard.

Inside the tent, you'll find young and aspiring boxers.

The boxing program is part of a nonprofit he started called H.E.R.O. Inc - Helping Everyone Reach Opportunity. The original story can be see HERE.

'Bans Off Our Bodies' rally in Downtown San Diego

Tijuana Migrant Camp March, 2021

Theses photos were taken at the migrant camp that popped up at the border crossing from Tijuana into the United States. The migrants are from Central America, the Caribbean and Africa. The camp sprung up shortly after President Biden was sworn into office. These people are hoping they will be allowed to request asylum in the United States and they want to be at the border and ready to go the very moment the rules change. Tijuana Migrant Shelter

This series of photos was taken at a shelter for migrants at a shelter. The street is unpaved and many of the migrants are missing their shoe laces, because when they were deported from the United States Customs and Border Protection took there belts and shoelaces and never gave them back. Theses deported migrants, many with small children, wait in limbo, in Mexico. The original story can be found HERE.

Tracklocross

Tracklocross is a unique kind of bike racing. Track bike racing on dirt. It has organs in the Ally Cat bike racing scene. This race was the first Tracklocross World Tour race after the pandemic stared to easy and people were allowed outside.

Hillside Fire Clean Up

On this day I was assigned to photograph a fire in San Diego County’s far North East County. The area is rugged and hilly. The fire quickly charred the sides of hills. In these photos crews made up of firefighters and prisoners clean up and make safe the burned area.
